The exhibition is over 3 days from the 6th to the 8th September 2024.
I will be showing collage and assemblage at the Gallery shop. Here are a couple of the pieces that will be on display. The woman sitting on the pineapple holding the yellow flower has a little stitching on it and the shakespearean woman is raised in 3D on a book cover called Shakespeare (it was old and damaged I don’t cut up just anything). All three unique pieces will be in the gallery shop with another 14 pieces all of different sizes and subject matter. Oops I almost forgot the hydrangeas are a painting on Arches watercolour paper.

Our two groups are working beautifully making collage from books and magazines. Our North Fitzroy group has grown and our Fairfield group is full. As we meet in a coffee shop I don’t think we can push the kindness of the cafe owners with too many more papers flying around. I would always be happy to help you to establish a group in your own area (if its not too far from me). I don’t have to attend but would like to discuss how we work out what happens, themes, meeting place and times, experience of participants. Please let me know in an email if you would like to discuss further. We do not pay anything except of course buying a coffee and something to eat from the cafe (that is essential). The cat below is really tiny approx 10cm x 4cm on watercolour paper. The giraffe family and the girl with pigtails are approx 9cm x 12cm on wood backing. These two are assemblages of found images, collage, pen, toys etc. They needed polka dots.
I’m still teaching casual classes in painting, collage and assemblage – let me know if you are interested.
If you have made any collage please send me a picture, especially if you have made to one of our themes. Latest themes were tomato and a previous one that was difficult and easy was self portrait. MCM are a group of artists that started meeting after the covid bans were lifted. We meet fortnightly at a local cafe and make collage, socialise and we have even had a fundraiser for a selected nearby school. We absolutely love seeing each other and working together. We have just come up with future themes rather than last minute ideas. I’m going to give you a few if you would also like to participate here online.

I just finished a fabulous exhibition at Meeniyan gallery in South Gippsland. I sold lots of wall assemblages and thought I should stop making these but I can’t help it, still making. I will post some new ones soon. They have changed into small free standing sculptures.
I will once again (maybe in Spring) be offering classes (all materials included) for either wall art or freestanding sculpture using found objects and collage.
Hope to hear from some of you. Why don’t you give one of the above themes to your child or your Grandmother or friend and get them to contribute too. I’ll post it for them.
