About

Anne Warren

Anne is a mixed media artist working in both 2D and 3D in Melbourne, Australia.

Anne graduated from RMIT University with a Bachelor in Fine Art (Drawing).

An image or a fragment of an image found in an old book that has caught Anne’s interest will become the genesis to further build and layer from several different sources. In an intuitive way Anne assembles the disparate cutouts to create a brand new hybrid character or scene with an entirely new identity, sometimes adding to it with pencil, paint or pen. With the 3D sculptural assemblage, work is applied in a similar fashion to collage using found objects.

From the small scale collage and assemblage work Anne will alter her approach and scale to make loose abstract paintings on canvas or board with a focus on atmospheric colour and shape.

Anne Warren’s art practice consists of collage, assemblage, digital imaging, still-life painting, abstract works, commissions and conducting Workshops in Art from her Alphington based studio.

Note: See Blog Posts for current projects being undertaken

Note that places are available for workshops, one on one to help and guide you to a more confident approach.   See contact page and mention your preferences for day, evening or weekend. Classes can be one off, a series of 4 or ongoing until you feel ready to go alone.  Note beginners and established artists wanting some new ideas are welcome.

New Art Sessions – Melbourne Collage Meets (instagram #melbournecollagemeets)

Melbourne Collage Meets is a group of artists that meet to make collage.  In 2023 our group of 11 held fundraising events exhibiting and sold collage work to raise money for two worthy local institutions – Olympic Village Primary School were gifted more than $800 in sensory toys and Araluen Disability Services – were gifted $430 for their ceramics department.  In 2004 we donated approx $2500 from sales to BANSIC for food relief and to Hope in a Suitcase for providing suitcases full of clothing for four foster children.

Melbourne Collage Meets has grown to 27 members and is based in three coffee shop locations, one of which might suit you best.  Fairfield, Rosanna and North Fitzroy.

Our group was born after the ISOlation of the Covid period and our members are a diverse artistic group and not specifically collage artists.  We have a sculptor, textile artist, ceramisist, illustrator, a gardener etc. etc. all coming together with an easily portable and fun medium.  Please know you do not need to have studied art to love it or to have talent.  Our meetings are free, no lessons, but you can ask for help or advice if you want it.  I can send you a materials list if you would like and or you can drop in to one of our fortnightly meetings.   Ask me for more info.
