Summer workshops in Assemblage/collage for 2023

Summer workshops in Assemblage/collage for 2023

I have several classes booked for these events. I may have a couple of spots available for those that are on holidays. I think there may be a space on Wed Jan 18 10 to 2. Not sure of the others yet. Email me if interested. Below is one of my favourites as I love chairs so much. It has incorporated collage and assemblage. Very small work only about 15 x 12cm approx. and ready with hanger at the back.

Chair in landscape block assemblage on board.

Gone : Collage Packs available

Gone : Collage Packs available

I collect old books and magazines for collage but even I sometimes need to refresh my stash. It is so difficult to give away books that have had pieces cut out of them and I understand why. I can’t even put them in an op shop. I decided to make some packs of collage paper packs to sell. Each pack is different to the next but I have included flower images, animals, landscape, text, old world paper, buildings, people etc. I have enclosed two A5 sheets of watercolour paper to get you started and also two gift tags to encourage you to make something small to start with. I have decided to write a few details on how to make a collage e.g. materials etc and will enclose this in the pack. This is available for $30 a pack if anyone wants. Please know the pictures are just a few from one of the packs and that there are many more images in each pack for making collage.

If I am posting the package the postage will be additional.

Please send me an email if you want one. annewarrenart@gmail.com

I am still teaching small or one on one collage classes if you would like one to get you started.

Thanks everyone.

March (Autumn) Newsletter 2023

March (Autumn) Newsletter 2023

It’s been a while since I posted. I have been making abstract paintings on canvas to free my hand and mind of the small assemblage work that I worked on for the last 6 or so months.

Before I get into what I am up to I’d like to congratulate all the wonderful assemblages made during the Summer workshops I just had. Fabulous treasures were given a new life and can now be viewed by all rather than sitting in a box or drawer hidden away.

A few assemblages have made it into exhibitions, including one that is in a current exhibition for ‘Feel Good’ art at Quadrant gallery. Worth having a look at some gorgeous small works in Hawthorn.

Many of the assemblages will be grouped together (like a flock of birds) to be shown at the Meeniyan gallery in South Gippslsand in May alongside some of my abstract paintings. When I exhibit I will be showing alongside fabulous sculptor Marija Patterson (look her up). Instagram marija_patterson

Here are some random pictures of my work.

Happy Autumn everybody.

This was put away for me to keep but I decided to show it. The smallest work at approx 10cm high.

This is on show at the moment at Quadrant gallery in Hawthorn. It is for the ‘Feel Good’ exhibition and it is called ‘The Rest Stop’.

Collage Characters

Collage Characters

Eleven years ago I made lots of characters and then stopped until now. I can’t tell you why but I am hooked again. have been making collage characters using different source material including books, magazines etc blending scale, colours and all sorts of things. These characters are stiffened using layers of paper and glue. They look best free on the wall and so all that all you need is a bit of bluetack and they stay. I sometimes use a small wood block on the back so they stick out from the wall and create shadows. Here are a few for you to see and the remainder are currently on my Insta story. Hope you have fun looking at them as much as I like making them. I might even do a workshop in making these as they really are so enjoyable to make. You could think about making a specific one for a family member combining all their loves e.g. food, fashion, dancing. Let me know if you would like to be contacted for this and if weekday or weekend is best for you. I will propose some dates a little later.

A cross for sure with Harry (you know who) and BTS member (Korean Pop Band) although I know that is a Japanese image but as I said, its a Hybrid.

I’m sure I’ve seen her walking around Smith Street, Collingwood in the 60’s. There is always a reason for someone to be drawn to an image, their background, their specific likes etc and that is why collage is unique even though it is pulled together from existing images. It is more than putting a big head on a small body (even though that in itself is hilarious).

Please check out my video of the latest 7 characters on stories on instagram as it only last for 24 hours.
